Guanches. The inspiration for this etching (& other works) was the Guanches of the Canary Islands (Tenerife), isolated since the first century CE, who were killed by the Spanish in the 16th century. The piles of skulls in the local museum, some children's bludgeoned with clubs, had a deep impact on me. Etching in raw umber ink, 30 x 20 cm. Edition of 20
